Re-inventing tourism. A Delphi analysis on the future of the tourism system in Italy

Abstract

Identifying the prospective challenges for the future of tourism and making a forecast of what the future scenarios will be is not an easy task. Through an exploratory Delphi survey, an attempt was made to identify the most important challenges for global tourism up to 2030 and to understand their nature, drivers and effects. The proposed meta-challenges demonstrate the complexity of the interrelationships and interdependencies affecting the future of the Italian tourism system.
