Let there be war! War scenarios from the Butte du Lion to war algorithms

Abstract

The essay intends to present possible future war scenarios, through the analysis of variables that have constituted – and constitute largely even today – the essence of the wars from Napoleon to von Clausewitz, from closed combat spaces to strategies connected to the use of war algorithms and tactical digital holograms. Following this logic and the possible recurrence of wars with actions codified and used from the more distant past, possible scenarios also arise linked to technological innovations, the growing dependence of the military on virtual reality and the widespread use of propaganda.
