Abstract
The article investigates digital modes of storytelling through the transition from desk-
top (PC) to mobile (tablet and smartphone) logic. In the first case, the production, story-
telling and consumption modes borrow from cinema and television. Examples are videos
broadcast on YouTube or Vimeo, or multimedia content posted on Facebook or Twitter.
In the second case, the modalities are innovative: they are more adapted to the medium.
This is the case of video reels on Instagram, or more so of videos made to be broadcast
via TikTok. The fruition of these contents has an exceptional visual metamorphosis with a
90° rotation, going from horizontal to vertical. The narrative aspects also change, through
innovative storytelling developments and links. The question is: what aspects characterise
the transition of production and consumption of three platforms that have different angles,
not only visual (YouTube, Instagram and TikTok)?
