Abstract
This contribution proposes a path of reflection in three “acts” on the meaning of the
“theatre” experience, in order to reconsider what is at stake even more for our present
time: the first act invites us to take an aesthetical point of view, thanks to some philosophers
of the last century who approached the theatrical paradigm within a movement of renewal
of thought; in the second act, the perspectives acquired will be placed in resonance with
the testimony of two avant-garde artists, such as James Brook and Antonin Artaud, so as to
illuminate the common characteristics of their innovative and original proposals; The third
act concludes the path with an outlook on the potentialities of this reality thanks to digital
experience, as a dimension of empowerment, and not of diminution, through certain tech-
niques (e.g. motion capture) which, besides preserving the beating heart of the theatrical
action, seem to be able to amplify its possibilities of communication and involvement, and
of putting our communitarian thinking and acting into motion.
Ma il vero teatro, in quanto si muove e in quanto si avvale di strumenti visivi,
continua ad agitare ombre in cui la vita non ha cessato di sussultare.
(Antonin Artaud, 2000)
