Abstract
Referring to the constellation of digital styles, forms and practices associated with
audiovisual media, Simone Arcagni in his book Visioni Digitali uses the term ‘post-cinema’
to emphasise the overcoming of what was ‘cinema’ in the 20th century. In today’s digital
context, it becomes crucial to reinvent the audiovisual sector and make it extremely attrac-
tive to new audiences. Among the invaded worlds, one emerges that might have seemed,
until recently, impregnable: the political sphere. The work focuses on the European land-
scape and starts by exploring the new ways in which political leaders have made use of
platforms that have de facto dematerialised the body. In short, we are faced with a complex
and varied ‘post-film’ digital world that is rewriting narratives and modes of participation,
at the total mercy of what is defined as: permanent electoral campaigning.
