Abstract
In the past twenty years, western audiovisual science fiction – originally focused on exploratory and adventurous futures – has transformed into looming fiction, dominated solely by dystopian and catastrophic scenarios. This shift also reflects contemporary narratives that depict societies in environmental and governmental crises, corrupted by dystopian and dictatorial technological innovations. The challenge today is to rediscover and reinvent science fiction, offering stories that inspire positive change and balanced, stimulating visions of the future.
